Reduce Marionette and Jowls Lift with Barbed Cog threads

Treatment performed by Dr. Mirfarhang Fazeli

The Causes of Marionette Lines and Sagging Jowls

The older people get, the more fat they lose on their faces. As volume is lost in the face, it starts to look sunken, and more wrinkles tend to form. As everything slides down, there is excess skin that folds up at the corners of the mouth, also known as sagging jowls. Many people are aware that Botox and fillers are possible solutions to sagging jowls; however, many are also not aware of the best and most effective procedure to eliminate marionette lines and sagging jowls.

What is The Best Non-Surgical Method to Reduce Sagging Jowls?

In the image above, a 49-year old lady was unhappy with the sagging jowls and marionette lines on her face. Before visiting our clinic, she had previously tried many different cosmetic procedures, including dermal fillers, Botox, and various laser treatments. However, none of these treatments helped her much. After coming to our clinic, she tried the Thread Face Lift procedure and saw improvements within days.

Performing Thread Face Life to Eliminate Laugh Lines and Marionette Lines

When comparing the two images, the marionette lines (lines that run from the corner of the mouth, along the chin) were very obvious in the ‘before’ photo, which made her look older. These marionette lines also affected the shape of the face – transforming it into a trapezoid shape, whereby initially it was a more of a triangular shape. Additionally, her laugh lines (nasolabial folds) appear to be much deeper and distinct in the first image, which was significantly improved after the thread facelift procedure.

How Face Asymmetry Contributes to Wrinkles and Sagging

Naturally, humans have about 80-90% of asymmetry on our faces and because of this, wrinkles and sags could appear clearer on one side of the face compared to the other. Studies have shown that face asymmetry is caused by genetics, however, there are other factors that also contribute to this issue. These factors include excessive sun exposure on one side of the face compared to the other, sleeping more on one side of the face, and the shape of individuals’ teeth. At our Clinic, we keep face asymmetry in mind when performing thread facelift procedures.

How Barbed Cog Threads Work

Barbed Cog threads are made of Polydioxanone with spines along them. Once these threads are inserted under the skin, they create tension by hooking onto the skin, which results in a gentle, natural, and immediate lift of sagging skin. It is an excellent non-invasive cosmetic technique to lift, tighten, and rejuvenate the skin.

Thread Face Lift Results

Considering the major concerns of our patient in the photo above, five barbed cog threads were inserted on each side of her face to lift her cheeks, jowls and marionette area. As shown in the ‘after’ photo, her nasolabial folds and marionette lines were significantly reduced.

The amount of lift that can be achieved with the thread lift procedure depends on factors such as the age of the skin, amount of skin sagging, the texture of the skin, and the anatomical structure of individuals’ face.
