Thread lifting uses barbed cog threads to create an immediate lift on the face. Thread lift is the most effective, non-surgical and non-invasive procedure available to lift the skin. Since the thread lift does not have the side effects of the surgical facelift and results can be seen within minutes, many plastic surgeons nowadays are practicing this procedure.
Why Thread Lift is the Best Treatment for Sagging Jowls
We use 3D cog threads, which are composed of two parts: the needle and the thread with spines located 360 degrees around it. When the needle is inserted under the skin, the thread is also inserted under the skin along with it. Upon removing the needle, the thread is released from the needle and the spines along the thread will hook up to the skin, allowing us to pull the skin in the opposite direction to create an immediate lift.
One of the most important applications of these cog threads is lifting the jowls. Barbed cog threads are inserted from near the ears and from the corner the ears towards the jaw line and pull the skin upward and create a straight line along the jaw. This procedure helps level the jowls and the jaw and completely reduces the sagging jowls in one session.
Sharpening the Jaw Line and Creating a V-Shape
Another application of the barbed cog threads is creating a V-shaped jaw but lifting the skin along the jaw line. This procedure sharpens the jaw line and treats any sagging skin in this area.
Who’s a Good Candidate for Thread Lifting?
People between 25 and 65 are good candidates for the thread lift procedure. The barbed cog threads not only create immediate lift but they also stimulate collagen and elastin production under the skin and help build up the foundation and density of the skin. The thread lift procedure not only functions as a treatment, but also works as a prevention of sagging skin early in life.
In the thread lift procedure, both topical Lidocaine cream and injectable Lidocaine are used in order to make it easier for my patients to receive the thread lift treatment.
